No Messy Clippings

When you forget the the One-Third Rule and let the grass get too long before mowing, you stress the plants by removing too much of the grass blade. You'll also have excess clippings that clump on the lawn and smother the grass underneath. If you follow the One-Third Rule, the clippings will filter down into the grass canopy, eliminating the need for raking and bagging. Leaving clippings can help reduce fertilizer needs and help the grass weather drought.
