Job Well Done

You can leave the spot bare, or to help keep soil moist, lightly cover the spot with weed-free straw, marsh hay, or other mulching material. Make sure at least 30 percent of the soil is visible through the mulch. Start mowing when 60 percent of the grass is 2 to 3 inches tall. Make sure your mower is sharp, as dull blades can rip out young seedlings.
