Construction on the Jefferson County Master Gardener Demonstration Garden began in January of 2006. Master Gardeners assembled four raised bed gardens which were filled with soil donated from a local construction company. The raised beds were planted with vegetables, herbs, perennials and ornamental grasses. Mulch was donated by a local sawmill. The garden area also included a picnic area and a "three sisters" planting. The garden will be expanded in 2007 to included a shed, compost bins, cold frame, a "corn field" and pumpkin patch for kids.
